Rep. Cummings, Speier Request Inspector General Review of U.S. Merchant Marine Academy’s Efforts to Prevent Sexual Assault and Harassment

Washington, DC (Apr. 23, 2013) – Today, Congressman Elijah E. Cummings (D-MD), as the top Democrat on the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and Congresswoman Jackie Speier (D-CA), Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Energy Policy, Health Care, and Entitlements, asked the Inspector General of the Department of Transportation to review sexual assault and harassment prevention policies and reporting procedures established by the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
