RELEASE: GAO Report Finds Banks Improperly Foreclosed on Servicemembers

Washington, DC (July 18, 2012)— Today, Congressman Elijah E. Cummings, as the top democrat on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, issued a statement in response to a Government Accountability Office (GAO) report issued yesterday which found that financial institutions are failing to protect servicemembers from improper foreclosures and are not reducing their mortgage interest rates in compliance with the law.
