Cummings Lauds Baltimore Church for Supporting Renovation of Local Police Station

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Elijah E. Cummings, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, applauded Baltimore’s New Psalmist Baptist Church for its efforts to renovate the Baltimore City Northwestern District Police Station on Reisterstown Road:
“I commend my pastor, Bishop Walter S. Thomas, and New Psalmist Baptist Church for their commitment to opening the front doors of a vital resource in Northwestern Baltimore,” Congressman Cummings said. “It is my hope that churches throughout Baltimore will find innovative ways to enable residents to work in partnership with the Baltimore Police Department to help keep their neighborhoods safe.”
The New Psalmist Baptist Church donated $40,000 to renovate the Northwestern District Police Station, providing for a new entrance and lobby. The front entrance of the station had been closed since 1998. Congressman Cummings has been a member of New Psalmist Baptist Church for 32 years.
