Cummings Joins Treasury Department To Announce Millions in Tax Credits for Maryland

(Washington, DC) – Congressman Elijah E. Cummings (MD-07), Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, will join the Department of Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI Fund) Director Donna J. Gambrell Thursday, to announce $118 million in tax credits for local businesses. These credits are part of the New Market Tax Credit National Award Program.

The award will be announced at Humanim, a nonprofit organization that provides workforce development services to low-income individuals and was a beneficiary of the New Market Tax Credit. Four Baltimore-area businesses will be receiving tax credits under the program to assist the creation and expansion of organizations such as Humanim. Three of these organizations are in the Seventh Congressional District.

Of all States, Maryland ranks sixth highest for tax allocations for this award round and 5th by number of awards.
