Cummings Commemorates Memorial Day
Washington, D.C. (May 27, 2016) — Today, Congressman Elijah E. Cummings (D-MD) issued the following statement recognizing Memorial Day:
“I feel a strong sense of gratitude when I think of the fallen soldiers who paid the ultimate price to defend our nation.
“This Memorial Day, and every day, the friends and families of our nation’s fallen should know that their sacrifice has not gone unnoticed or unappreciated. We can never repay them, but we can honor their courage by continuing to fight to preserve our democracy for generations yet unborn.
“While we honor the memories of the fallen, we cannot forget the many who return. We must ensure that they receive the medical care, employment, housing, and support they deserve. I look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues to ensure that our veterans have access to the resources they need.”
