Congressman Cummings Commends Baltimore City Schools for Selection of New CEO

Cummings (MD-07) commended the Baltimore City Public School System (BCPSS) for selecting Dr. Andres Alonso as its new Chief Executive Officer. Dr. Alonso currently serves as the Deputy Chancellor for Teaching and Learning of the New York City Department of Education and has been instrumental in implementing major reforms in the New York City public school system.
"I am pleased that the Baltimore City Public School System has selected a proven leader who has dedicated his career to educating children," Congressman Cummings said. "Dr. Alonso combines extensive experience as a senior administrator at the nation's largest public school system coupled with an unwavering belief that every child can succeed.
