Cummings Statement Regarding Potential Internet Legislation
(Washington, DC) – Congressman Elijah E. Cummings (D-MD), Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform today released a statement regarding potential legislation that would affect the Internet:
“There is no doubt in my mind that legislation is needed to halt the sale of pirated and counterfeit goods on the Internet. However, I cannot support any proposal that would allow censorship, stifle innovation or leave our nation open to breaches in cybersecurity. I hope that Members of Congress will continue working together to develop a balanced and bi-partisan solution to this very real problem.”
